                     GRADES 2-12 HELPFUL HINTS

bullet Review the SCIENTIFIC METHOD. Follow all five steps in your science fair project.
bullet Your project MUST ASK A QUESTION. This question should not be answerable by just researching information in a book or online. Clearly state the question in your display.
bullet A good question will lead you to create an experiment in which you will measure something. Examples of things you might measure include changes in weight or volume, lengths of time or distance, numbers of occurences, or differences between things.
bullet Have a control sample and more than one test sample, where you can change its treatment or conditions to answer the question.
bullet You must record and display your results. Show how you followed the steps of the scientific method.
bulletBe sure to review and follow the specific requirements for your grade level as outlined under the sections "Judging Criteria" and "Rules and Safety Information".
bulletPlease remember - displaying models of things such as volcanoes, the solar system, prehistoric animals, etc. will not meet the requirements of an experiment, since you cannot set up an acceptable test to answer a question.
