ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
The purpose of our scholarship is to provide recognition
and financial encouragement to past participants in the Fort Atkinson Science
Fair. To be eligible, an applicant must be a graduating senior who has competed
at the science fair at least once and will be pursuing a post-high school course
of study in a recognized field of science. The deadline for
applications is April 1st.
A $1000 award will be made at the end of the academic year, and announced
during the annual school awards program. The number of awards each year will be
dependent upon community financial support for the Fort Atkinson Regional
Science Fair and also the availability of qualified applicants. The awards will
be payable to the recipient and academic institution jointly, and be divided
equally between the academic terms of the following school year.
Winners are selected based on academic achievement, extra-curricular and
community activities, science-related activities and a development of career
plans in a scientific field. A committee of three judges, consisting of two
science fair board members and one science fair judge, makes the selection.
Applicants must submit a completed application form, a school transcript, two
letters of recommendation, and
a narrative describing one's activities and interests, including
extra-curricular school activities, community and volunteer activities, jobs and
individual projects. It should also include what has inspired the student to
pursue his or her chosen field of study. Consider outside and extracurricular
activities, individual projects and interests, jobs, supporting teachers or
mentors, camps and other forms of encouragement.
